Distant waves, new world

something from a dream is Moulded into material

Accademia Filarmonica, Rome, Italy, 2019 (premiere)

Distant Waves for solo flute incorporates a variety of  extended modern techniques and weaves a juxtaposition of the new and the ancient.  The melodic essence of the work is inspired from four masses of the 15th century composer Pierre de la Rue offering the echo of the past in sounds of the modern world.  This piece combines structured improvisation with set movements in collaboration with video artists and live flutist.
